Cost of Cloth diapers vs. Disposables
Are Cloth diapers really less expensive than disposables?
YES!
I've added up the costs for both a hundred different ways, and yes, yes, yes, it is still much more expensive to use disposable diapers. Even if you get the least expensive diapers, even if you never change your kid, they are still thousands more than cloth diapers in the end.
If fact you could easily choose the most expensive fanciest cloth diapers and still come out ahead.
For Families using cloth, there can be a savings between $2000-$4000 per child, depending on what system you go with, and you can save even more with subsequent children.
If you buy Disposables
A disposable diaper can cost 20 - 50 cents each. Assuming your child uses 9000 diapers over 2 years (8-12 diapers a day), it'll cost $2000 - $4500.
Total:Between $2000 and $4500 over 2 years!
For one-size cloth diapers:
24 One-Sized Fitteds @ $12 ea=$288.00 OR,
2 dozen Terry Flats plus 6 velcro covers: $8 x 2 = $16.00+ $7x6covers=$42 Total $58
Accessories (pull-on covers, wet bags, wipes & liners): $50.00
Total: Only $58-$288 over 2 years!! (And you can use them for your next child!)
